Finca Esperanza: A Passion for Sustainable Coffee.
Nestled within the lush landscapes of the El Triunfo Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage site in Chiapas, Mexico, Finca Esperanza is a family-run coffee farm dedicated to producing exceptional organic specialty coffee.
A Story of Revitalization
Under the guidance of agronomist Eyber, the farm has undergone a remarkable transformation. Abandoned for years, Finca Esperanza was revitalized in 2022, with a focus on sustainable practices and the production of high-quality coffee.
With a potential of 70 hectares, the farm currently utilizes 40 hectares for coffee cultivation. While the density of coffee trees is still relatively low, we anticipate significant yield increases in the coming years, reaching an estimated 16-20 tons of exportable coffee by 2025.
A Commitment to Quality and Community
Eyber's passion for coffee and his extensive knowledge of plant science are evident in every aspect of Finca Esperanza's operations. From harvesting to sun drying, all processes are meticulously carried out by hand, ensuring the highest quality coffee beans.
The farm employs local residents, providing valuable income and supporting the community. By offering year-round employment to Marcellino and his family, Eyber is making a significant difference in their lives.
The Harvest Process
Harvesting at Finca Esperanza typically occurs in the first quarter of each year. The coffee cherries are handpicked by the dedicated team of workers, then cleaned and left to dry in the sun for 15-20 days, depending on weather conditions.
Once dried to optimal moisture levels, the coffee is stored at a local warehouse in Jaltenango de la Paz, ready for export.
A Legacy of Excellence
Eyber and his family have consistently demonstrated their commitment to quality and excellence. Their dedication to sustainable coffee production and their unwavering pursuit of exceptional flavor have earned them a well-deserved reputation in the industry.
Finca Esperanza's coffee has consistently ranked among the top in prestigious competitions like Cafélogia, a testament to the farm's dedication to quality and innovation.
